DEHLI (Web Desk) – Ram Charan is leaving no stone unturned for his upcoming sports drama Peddi, and the actor recently shared how physically and emotionally demanding the journey has been. While promoting the film alongside director Buchi Babu Sana, Ram opened up about the intense preparation he underwent to bring his character to life on screen.
According to the actor, the role required him to transform his body multiple times within a short span. Initially, he was asked to maintain the lean physique of a professional cricketer. Ram explained that the director wanted him to resemble athletes like Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya — athletic, agile, and slim. However, the physical requirements quickly changed as the story progressed. Soon after, he had to bulk up significantly to portray a kabaddi player and wrestler, demanding a much heavier and muscular frame.
Though the transitions were exhausting, Ram said he genuinely enjoyed the challenge. He shared that passion for the project kept him motivated despite the rigorous training and physical strain. The actor described the process as fulfilling because it allowed him to push his limits as a performer.
Now that filming is nearing completion, the toll on his body has become more visible. Ram admitted he has been experiencing pain and discomfort after the shoot. He revealed that even lifting his daughter has become difficult due to pain in his hand and shoulder. The actor mentioned that repeated wrestling sequences caused stress on his muscles and joints, leading to tremors in one of his hands. He is reportedly considering medical tests, including an X-ray, to assess the damage.
Interestingly, Ram also spoke about working with real wrestlers in the film. Since many of them came from sports backgrounds rather than acting, they would instinctively begin actual wrestling during action scenes. Despite the chaos and physically demanding shoot, the production managed to avoid any major injuries or delays.
Reflecting on his career, Ram noted that he has suffered injuries on nearly every film set, including accidents during RRR, Rangasthalam, and Game Changer. However, he expressed gratitude that filming for Peddi continued smoothly without interruptions.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, Peddi also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu, and Jagapathi Babu. The film, centered on identity and sport, is slated for release on June 4.
