LAHORE— The Investigation Wing of Lahore Police has intensified proceedings in a drug-related case involving a suspect identified as Anmol, also known as Pinky, as officials confirmed that efforts to secure her arrest are ongoing and internal accountability measures have been initiated over investigative delays.

According to DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza, a departmental audit conducted through the SP Crime Record Office revealed that two separate narcotics cases were already registered against the suspect’s brothers — Nasser and Riaz — at different police stations in 2020 and 2022, including Iqbal Town and Kot Lakhpat.

Officials stated that Anmol alias Pinky has been formally nominated in both cases, though her arrest remains pending. Investigators have already completed challan submissions to the relevant courts, where trial proceedings against the co-accused brothers have advanced to a significant stage.

Authorities further confirmed that court permissions are being sought to proceed with legal formalities related to the suspect’s arrest. Special police teams have also been constituted to track and transfer the accused to Punjab for custody and further legal action.

In a parallel development, DIG Investigation revealed that disciplinary proceedings have been launched against concerned investigating officers for failing to ensure timely arrest of the nominated suspect. The move signals increasing internal scrutiny within the investigation branch as pressure mounts to close long-pending gaps in the case.

Officials maintain that the investigation remains active and further developments are expected as legal and procedural steps progress.
