LAHORE: meeting of the Standing Committee on Local Government & Community Development has held at the Punjab Assembly under the chairmanship of Peer Ashraf Rasool, MPA. Mr. Zeeshan Rafique, Minister for Local Government & Community Development, specially attended the meeting. Officers from the Punjab Assembly Secretariat and other government departments also attended the meeting.

The Suthra Punjab Authority Bill 2025 was discussed in the committee and passed unanimously.
The bill aims to establish a centralized authority responsible for improving solid waste management, cleanliness, sanitation, and environmental hygiene across Punjab. It provides a legal and institutional framework to plan, regulate, and modernize waste collection, recycling, and disposal systems in both urban and rural areas.
The participants expressed their appreciation for Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for this project.
