LAHORE: Following the recent alert issued by the Meteorological Department regarding possible floods and landslides after heavy rains in upper Punjab, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has deployed special teams at Smart Safe City Centres across the province to monitor the flood situation. These teams are ensuring round-the-clock surveillance and timely response to the evolving conditions.

According to details, Smart Safe City Murree, Rawalpindi, D.G. Khan and other districts have deployed Virtual Patrolling Officers for dedicated monitoring, while Artificial Intelligence systems are being used to identify hot spot areas and choking points. In Rawalpindi, real-time surveillance of Nallah Lai and other city drains is being carried out through Safe City cameras to ensure timely alerts in case of any potential threat.
More than 600 state-of-the-art cameras across Punjab are actively monitoring the flood situation. The Safe Cities Authority is providing real-time alerts to the PDMA and other concerned departments regarding possible flooding and heavy rains. Additionally, timely updates regarding urban flooding, water accumulation, and affected areas are being communicated to ensure that rescue and relief operations are not delayed.
The spokesperson of PSCA has appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers, drains, and electric poles, and immediately contact Police Helpline 15 in case of any emergency.
