BANNU (Web Desk) – Prime minister, president and officials condemn Bannu suicide attack killing 15 police, reaffirming resolve against terrorism as security forces launch operation after deadly blast.

The Pakistan’s top leadership strongly condemned the deadly suicide attack on a police post in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that left 15 personnel martyred and three injured.

According to police, terrorists rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the Fateh Khel police post late at night, triggering a powerful blast that destroyed the facility and damaged nearby buildings.

Sajjad Khan said 18 police personnel were present at the post at the time of the attack. Fifteen were martyred while three others sustained injuries.

Following the explosion, militants opened heavy fire and attacked the post from multiple directions, reportedly using modern equipment including quadcopters.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 completed the operation on Sunday morning, recovering bodies and shifting the injured to hospitals. An emergency was declared in local health facilities.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed deep sorrow, paying tribute to the martyred personnel and calling their sacrifice unforgettable.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack and reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism. He assured full cooperation with provincial authorities to bring those responsible to justice.

President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the incident, expressing condolences to the bereaved families and directing authorities to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured.

International reactions also followed, with Iran, Turkiye and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with Pakistan.

Security forces launched a search operation in the area and tightened security across Bannu following the incident, which comes amid a rise in militant violence in the region.
