Following Pakistan’s commanding tri-series triumph in Sharjah, T20I captain Salman Ali Agha revealed that he and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will donate their tournament earnings to support victims of the catastrophic floods ravaging Pakistan.
In a post on X, Salman stated, “Our nation is facing tough times. Shaheen Afridi and I will contribute our tri-nation series earnings to help those affected by the floods.” He called on other cricketers to join the effort, emphasizing the need to rebuild lives shattered by the disaster.
The announcement coincides with Pakistan’s ongoing flood crisis, the second in three years, which has claimed over 900 lives and displaced more than one million people, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered the most, with 504 deaths, while Punjab faces its worst-ever flooding, impacting 4.1 million residents. As floodwaters threaten Sindh, over 128,000 people have been evacuated, with more displacement expected.
In the tri-series final, Pakistan secured a 75-run victory against Afghanistan, bowling them out for 66 while defending 141. Mohammad Nawaz’s career-best 5/19, including a historic hat-trick, and Shaheen Afridi’s early breakthrough were pivotal in the win.
