The event was attended by prominent figures from various walks of life, including Professor Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, Pandit Bhagat Lal, and Sohail Ahmed Raza. The ceremony was moderated by the Christian Study Centre’s Coordinator, Yasir Nayyer.
On the occasion, Minister Ramesh Singh Arora, along with the participants, cut the Independence Day cake and extended heartfelt greetings to all Pakistanis. In his address, he stated, “Pakistan is home to followers of all religions; it belongs to all of us, and everyone enjoys equal rights.” He emphasized that all religious minorities in Pakistan are safe.
The Minister highlighted that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz not only participates in minority festivals but also actively supports welfare initiatives for them. He noted that the Chief Minister has issued Minority Cards to 50,000 families to ensure better access to facilities for minorities. He described Pakistan as a “bouquet where all religions and cultures spread their fragrance.”
The event also featured speeches by Pandit Bhagat Lal and Reverend Amjad Niamat, with speakers stressing the importance of promoting mutual love, harmony, and interfaith unity. Participants reaffirmed their resolve to celebrate Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with enthusiasm, unity, and patriotism.
