LAHORE, December 23 — DIG Investigation Lahore, Syed Zeeshan Raza, chaired an open court at a private marriage hall in Shadbagh in line with the vision of the Punjab chief minister, where he directly heard public complaints and took action against investigative shortcomings.
Senior officers including SP Investigation City Farhat Abbas, DSP Investigations, in-charges of investigation wings, investigating officers, and a large number of citizens attended the open court. A significant number of overseas Pakistanis were also present and raised their concerns regarding delayed and faulty investigations.
During the proceedings, citizens informed the DIG Investigation about issues related to poor investigations, delays in case disposal, and lack of merit. Taking serious notice, DIG Syed Zeeshan Raza issued on-the-spot instructions for the resolution of complaints and reprimanded several investigating officers over substandard investigations. He also ordered the issuance of show-cause notices to officers found negligent.
The DIG stressed that no compromise on merit would be tolerated under any circumstances and directed investigating officers to conclude cases strictly on merit. He ordered immediate redressal of public complaints related to investigations and emphasized that daily performance must reflect improvement.
Syed Zeeshan Raza stated that the purpose of holding open courts in different areas of Lahore is to restore public confidence in the police. He reaffirmed that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of the Investigation Police.
He further said that timely and fair justice is essential for maintaining law and order, directing officers to deal with citizens politely and further improve their professional conduct. The DIG reiterated that his office doors remain open at all times for public grievances.
