LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif made an unexpected visit to Liberty Chowk on Wednesday, drawing a large crowd as citizens gathered to see and interact with her.
During the visit, the chief minister spoke warmly with citizens, showed affection towards children, and posed for selfies. She instructed security personnel to step aside, allowing people to come closer and interact freely with her.

Maryam Nawaz expressed happiness on seeing a little girl wearing a yellow shirt, shook hands with her, and warmly responded when a young child came forward to greet her. On another occasion, a young man approached the chief minister while carrying an infant, to whom she offered prayers and blessings.

Several citizens praised the chief minister for her performance, with one saying that people widely appreciate her work and dedication. Responding playfully to a child, Maryam Nawaz remarked that the young boy looked like a “brave soldier,” as she greeted him with affection. Another citizen described her work as “remarkably visible and impressive,” even inviting her to visit Karachi.
During the visit, the chief minister also took notice of a motorcyclist without a safety rod and directed authorities to ensure its installation. She informed a young rider that safety rods could be installed free of cost at designated camps.
“The safety rod is for your own protection. I care about your safety,” Maryam Nawaz told the motorcyclist.
She clarified that there is no ban on riding motorcycles during Basant, but warned that bikes without safety rods would be impounded, stressing that all safety measures are solely for public protection.
