KP CM Afridi blasts Punjab govt over ‘humiliating’ treatment, demands accountability

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has sent a strong letter to the Punjab government, condemning what he called “humiliating and inappropriate” treatment during his recent official visit. The letter accuses Punjab authorities of violating protocol, imposing excessive security measures, and causing unnecessary public inconvenience.

Afridi said the behavior he faced during the visit was “a slap on the face of the public mandate,” noting that the closure of public spaces and blocked access to motorway service areas created major disruptions for ordinary citizens.

He also alleged a coordinated social media campaign defaming him, linking him to drugs, was run via accounts associated with state institutions. Afridi strongly condemned the smear campaign, calling it “a direct attack on interprovincial harmony” and demanded that those responsible be held accountable.

The KP chief minister demanded assurances from Punjab authorities that such incidents will not recur and emphasized that his letter should be treated as an official record for any future legal or administrative action. Afridi warned that ignoring the issue could damage relations between the provinces and undermine public trust in government institutions.
