KARACHI (WebDesk) – An FIR has been registered against more than a dozen lawyers after YouTuber Rajab Butt was attacked during a court appearance at Karachi City Court on Monday. The incident occurred as Butt arrived for the hearing of his bail plea in a case registered against him under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

A video circulating on social media showed Butt, with his shirt torn, surrounded by a crowd as he moved through the premises. His lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, wrote on X that Butt faced a “life-threatening attack” inside the court premises.
The FIR, lodged on Ashfaq’s complaint, names Advocate Riaz Ali Solangi, Advocate Abdul Fatah and 15–20 unidentified lawyers. It invokes multiple sections of the PPC, including 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with a deadly weapon), 382 (theft after preparation to cause hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 337-A (shajjah).
The complainant said Butt arrived at City Court at 9am for his bail hearing when Solangi and others attacked him. He also alleged that a bag containing Rs300,000 was snatched and later returned without the cash. Butt was reportedly taken to an additional district and sessions judge (Central), where threats to kill him were allegedly made.
South DIG Syed Asad Raza said no arrests had been made so far. Advocate Solangi, who is also the complainant in the original case against Butt, claimed Butt had used inappropriate language against Karachi lawyers in a vlog after his pre-arrest bail on December 20 and was taken to the Karachi Bar Association committee room where he apologised.
Another video showed Butt walking with a group of lawyers chanting “Karachi Bar Zindabad,” while TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, also known as Nani Wala, was also seen present at the scene.
