Iran’s Pezeshkian vows to defend every inch of territory, urges national unity amid US threats

TEHRAN (International Desk) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected recent hostile statements and territorial claims directed at Iran, saying the country remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and protect every part of its territory.

In a recent interview, Pezeshkian responded to what he described as offensive rhetoric targeting the Iranian nation and remarks suggesting possible military action against Iranian territory. He said such statements were not new but argued that their practical impact had failed to match the claims made by Iran’s opponents.

“Their rhetoric continues, and they keep making these claims,” Pezeshkian said. “But the real question is whether they have actually achieved their objectives on the battlefield.”

The Iranian president questioned the results of previous efforts by foreign powers to pressure Tehran, saying those who sought to weaken or divide Iran had not achieved their intended goals.

He emphasized that Iran’s main priority remains protecting its territorial integrity and national independence.

“In practice, what we firmly believe and are committed to is defending every single inch of our land,” Pezeshkian said, adding that disrespectful statements made against Iran reflect the nature of those making them rather than the Iranian people.

Calls for unity amid external pressure

Pezeshkian also highlighted the importance of domestic unity, saying internal divisions could weaken Iran’s ability to respond to external challenges.

According to the Iranian president, maintaining social cohesion and solidarity should be the country’s first priority as it faces continued political and security pressures.

“The absolute first step for us is to preserve our internal unity and solidarity,” he said. “Any word or behavior that causes division or a split within our society will only serve to diminish our collective power.”

His comments come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides continuing to exchange strong statements over regional security, Iran’s nuclear programme, and broader geopolitical influence in the Middle East.

Rising Iran-US tensions

Relations between Iran and the United States have remained strained for years, with disagreements ranging from sanctions and nuclear negotiations to military presence and influence across the region.

Washington has maintained pressure on Tehran through economic restrictions and diplomatic measures, while Iranian officials have repeatedly accused the US of pursuing policies aimed at limiting Iran’s regional role.

Pezeshkian’s remarks reflect Tehran’s longstanding position that national strength depends on both military preparedness and political unity. Iranian officials have frequently argued that internal stability is essential for resisting foreign pressure.

Analysts say the latest statements highlight the continuing challenges facing diplomacy between the two countries, as mistrust remains a major obstacle to renewed engagement.

Regional implications

The latest exchange of remarks adds to uncertainty across the Middle East, where tensions involving Iran, the United States, and regional allies remain a key security concern.

Observers believe that while both sides continue to use strong language, any escalation could have wider consequences for energy markets, regional security, and international diplomacy.

For Tehran, Pezeshkian’s message was focused on deterrence and national resilience, stressing that Iran would not compromise on its territorial sovereignty.

The Iranian president’s appeal for unity also reflects the government’s effort to strengthen domestic support amid economic challenges, international sanctions, and continuing geopolitical pressure.

As tensions persist, Iran’s leadership has indicated that protecting national interests and maintaining internal cohesion will remain central elements of its future strategy.
