KARACHI (Web Desk) -Police and rescue services recovered four decomposed bodies from a deep ditch along Mai Kolachi Road on Friday night, raising fresh concerns over public safety in the city.
South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza said the bodies were found in a ditch covered with bushes on the “jungle side” of the road within the jurisdiction of Docks police station.
Police reached the site after receiving information from a scavenger who noticed the bodies. Initial assessment showed that the bodies were around 10 to 15 days old and in an advanced state of decomposition. Two of the deceased were male while the other two were female.
An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said one of the bodies appeared to be that of a boy.
DIG Raza said the bodies were shifted to a hospital for legal formalities, adding that police were investigating the incident from all angles.
Earlier this week, the body of an employee of the University of Karachi was found stuffed in a gunny bag in a deserted area of Safoora Town. Police said the victim appeared to have been bludgeoned to death.
According to police, the deceased was an employee of the H.E.J. Research Institute at the University of Karachi. He had been residing in the university’s staff town but had recently moved to Sachal Goth.
