LAHORE (Web Desk) – Families across Pakistan are feeling the pinch as flour prices continue to climb, making even basic bread a struggle for low-income households. In Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, flour prices have jumped by up to PKR 30 per kilogram, while Karachi saw increases of around PKR 40 per kilogram. In Quetta, prices rose by PKR 20 per kilogram.

Badruddin Kakar, chairman of the Flour Mills Association of Pakistan, said flour is now scarce at government-fixed rates in most cities. He noted that shopkeepers are selling 15-kilogram bags instead of 20-kilogram ones, with prices reaching PKR 2,000 per bag, further squeezing household budgets.
Kakar called for the removal of inter-provincial restrictions on flour distribution and urged authorities to allocate wheat quotas fairly across Punjab to stabilize prices.
Citizens voiced frustration, saying government efforts to ensure affordable flour have fallen short. “The rising cost of flour has made feeding a family a daily challenge,” one resident said, highlighting how inflation is hitting ordinary people the hardest.
Analysts warn that without timely intervention, the situation could worsen, forcing more families to cut back on essential food items.
