LAHORE, December 16 — Lahore Police, in coordination with the district administration, have intensified action against violations of the Loudspeaker Act, arresting 1,357 people across the city so far this year.

According to a police spokesperson, cases have been registered against individuals involved in the illegal use of loudspeakers, in line with Punjab government directives to maintain law and order. During the ongoing crackdown, 279 arrests were made in City Division, 280 in Cantonment, 290 in Saddar, and 208 in Model Town.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana warned that the illegal use of loudspeakers will not be tolerated, reiterating that a strict zero-tolerance policy is in force. He clarified that loudspeakers are permitted only for Azan and Friday sermons, while their use for loud music at weddings and other events is completely banned.

The CCPO directed divisional officers to maintain close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure full compliance with the Loudspeaker Act and to maintain peace in the city. He added that the crackdown will continue to curb noise pollution and prevent public disturbance.
