ISLAMABAD (WebDesk) – Authorities on Wednesday issued a nationwide alert following a Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast of heavy rain and snowfall across the country on January 22 and 23, raising concerns over potential flash floods in streams and possible road closures, particularly in northern and hilly areas.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) urged citizens and local administrations to take precautionary measures as widespread wet weather is expected in all provinces.According to the PMD, heavy rain and snowfall will impact northern regions including Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli and Rawalakot.
Punjab is likely to experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms in major cities such as Rawalpindi and Lahore, while Islamabad may see cloudy conditions with spells of rain and isolated hailstorms.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also expected to receive widespread rain and snowfall, while Sindh will remain cold and cloudy with rain likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) advised tourists and residents in hill stations, including Murree and Galiyat, to exercise caution during the wet spell.
