LAHORE – Leaders of the Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) have stressed that the upcoming federal budget must show practical measures to move towards an export-led economy.
In a joint statement, PIAF Patron-in-Chief Mian Sohail Nisar, Chairman Syed Mehmood Ghaznavi, Senior Vice Chairman Mudasar Masood Chaudhry, and Vice Chairman Raja Waseem Hassan said the government must transform its slogan of boosting exports into a serious, long-term industrial strategy. They urged for a focus on value addition, private sector support, and the development of new export sectors across various regions.
The PIAF leaders emphasized the need to provide facilities to small industries, highlighting how neighboring countries are earning billions of dollars through exports of handicrafts and small products.
They also called for reforms in the appointment of Commercial Counselors in foreign missions, assigning export promotion tasks to qualified officers. Acknowledging the key role of overseas Pakistanis in strengthening the national economy, they welcomed the government’s ongoing efforts to appreciate and support them and urged continuity in this policy.
