LAHORE: The Punjab government has failed to provide the farmers with the reasonable official price of wheat to the formers this year as well.
In the assembly floor the parliamentary secretary kept quoting the official price of wheat as Rs 2,800 to Rs 3,000, which was severely criticized by both the government and opposition members of the assembly.
In the Punjab Assembly session, Parliamentary Secretary Malik Waheed came to the house unprepared on the issue of food. Government member Zulfiqar Shah harshly criticised Secretary Food Malik Waheed on the new wheat policy and said that if there is bread, the country is stable, if there is no bread, people will eat us.
Malik Waheed wavered on the official rate of wheat, sometimes saying the rate was twenty-eight rupees and sometimes three thousand rupees per 40kg.
The Punjab Assembly session began as usual with a delay of two hours and forty-seven minutes, so government and opposition members complained about the late start of the session, on which Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan ordered the session to start on time on Friday. Opposition member Asad Abbas attacked the government on the cases of substandard and harmful food, fake and adulterated food. Opposition member Rai Murtaza Iqbal declared food security as important as defense security.

He threatened a unique protest on the monthly rent issue, saying that he can go to any extent for the sanctity of the House.
In the session, government member Samiullah Khan was seen crying about the helplessness of the special committee on the rent issue of the Gymkhana Club. He said that the rent of a canal in the Gymkhana Club is fifty paisa per month. We politicians are taunted that we are the elite, but if anyone wants to understand the elite, then just look at the Gymkhana Club issue. Now, no matter what political party, it will be known who is running Lahore. The Gymkhana Club is a big example.
In the session, government member Mumtaz Begum revealed dangerous stray dogs in inner Lahore and government member Ahsan Khan declared Kanganpur a dirty area due to murder and destruction.
During the official proceedings in the Punjab Assembly, the draft law amendment Punjab Tianjin University of Technology Lahore 2025, the draft law amendment Mir Chakar Khan Rind University of Technology Dera Ghazi Khan 2025 and t5he draft law Amendment Punjab University of Technology Rasool 2025 was presented. After the agenda was completed, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan adjourned the meeting until 2 pm on Friday in the Old Building.
