Collector Saeed Watto commended the team for their bravery and swift action
LAHORE – Customs Enforcement Lahore, led by Assistant Collector Arslan Mughal, seized illegal goods worth an estimated Rs 300 million during a high-risk operation in Shah Alam Market.
Acting on directives from Collector Saeed Watto, the operation targeted smugglers involved in trafficking cigarettes, betel nuts, gutka, and other contraband.
The raid, based on intelligence, faced stiff resistance as smugglers opened fire on the customs team, injuring an inspector and a sepoy.
The details were disclosed during a press conference held today at the Customs House.
AC Arslan Mughal briefed the media, highlighting the role of the Shafiq Papa group, known for smuggling activities, and their alleged involvement in prior cases.

Superintendent Rashid Munir confirmed that FIRs for smuggling and assault on officials are being registered separately.
