LAHORE– Lahore is set to celebrate the three-day Basant festival from March 12 to 14, 2027, following the issuance of a new notification approved by the Punjab government.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (retd) Ali Ijaz issued the notification, outlining regulations for kite flying and the manufacturing of kites and kite strings ahead of the festival.
Under the new directives, kite flying will be conditionally allowed within Lahore district limits, while designated prohibited areas will remain off-limits. Participants must comply with government-prescribed standards for kites and kite strings throughout the celebrations.
The notification also permits the manufacturing of kites and kite strings from September 5, 2026, to March 14, 2027. Manufacturers will be required to complete digital registration to operate under the prescribed framework.
The measures establish a regulated period for production and festival activities, with authorities setting conditions for participation and manufacturing as Lahore prepares for the 2027 Basant celebrations.
