ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has handed over more than Rs5 million to the family of Laiba Ijaz, a gold-medal-winning student whose death by suicide brought attention to an alleged job scam.
During a visit to the family, Naqvi expressed condolences to Laiba’s father, Rana Ijaz, and assured him that efforts would continue to recover the remaining money allegedly taken by the suspected fraudster.
Investigators have reportedly identified 21 additional victims who were allegedly deceived through promises of jobs in the Ministry of Defence. Sources said 21 fake appointment letters were recovered, with four reportedly issued to the suspect’s own cousins.
Laiba’s father thanked the authorities and members of the public for supporting his family. The investigation into the alleged fraud and related circumstances remains ongoing.
