The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Dr Asad Abbas, chairman of the POA Medical Commission, to discuss medical arrangements and awareness initiatives for the upcoming games.
Dr Azam, Dr Ayesha Naeem, Punjab Olympic Association Executive Chairman Idris Haider Khawaja and POA Secretary Waqar Ali attended the meeting.
Dr Asad Abbas said doctors would be present at all venues to deliver lectures and brief young athletes on doping, healthy nutrition and physical fitness.
He added that a medical seminar would also be held in Lahore on October 28 as part of the awareness initiative.
According to Dr Abbas, this is the first time such an initiative has been undertaken for school and college athletes in Punjab’s inter-school and inter-collegiate competitions.
He credited Idris Haider Khawaja for supporting the initiative, saying that doctors and physiotherapists would guide students on maintaining fitness and improving their physical health.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among young athletes about the risks associated with doping and the importance of proper nutrition, medical guidance and physical conditioning in sports.
