Syed Azmat Ali secured 5,428 votes, the highest tally among all Associate Class candidates, according to the official election results. All 15 successful candidates in the Associate Class contested from the Vision Alliance.
In a statement following the election, Syed Azmat Ali expressed gratitude to the voters who supported him and said the result had given him a greater sense of responsibility toward the business community.
He thanked the leadership of his alliance for its guidance and support during the election campaign and also acknowledged the efforts of colleagues, supporters and members of the business community who stood by him throughout the electoral process.
Syed Azmat Ali said the confidence shown by voters was an honour as well as a responsibility. He pledged to work in accordance with the expectations of those who supported him and to contribute to the LCCI’s efforts to represent the interests of traders, industrialists and entrepreneurs.
He said he would seek to remain accessible to the business community and listen to the concerns and proposals of LCCI members. According to him, the chamber provides an important platform for raising business-related issues and maintaining dialogue with government institutions.
The LCCI elections were conducted in two phases, with Corporate Class polling held on September 23 and Associate Class polling on September 24. The election results showed all 15 Associate Class seats going to Vision Alliance candidates.
Syed Azmat Ali received 5,428 votes, followed by Zaman Naseeb with 5,421 and Shahab Basharat with 5,416 votes. The remaining successful candidates also secured more than 4,900 votes, according to the announced results.
He said the new Executive Committee would have an important role in addressing issues affecting businesses and strengthening communication between the chamber and the government.
The newly elected EC member also thanked those who supported him during the campaign, saying their encouragement had strengthened his commitment to serve the business community.
Syed Azmat Ali said he would try to come up to the expectations of both the voters and the leadership that supported his candidacy, while working collectively with other elected members of the Executive Committee.
The election process later led to the unopposed election of Ali Hassam Asghar as LCCI president, with Sardar Usman Ghani elected senior vice president and Khadim Hussain vice president.
Syed Azmat Ali said the new leadership should work collectively to strengthen the chamber’s role in promoting trade, investment, industry and business activity in Lahore.
