LAHORE: Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, was detained in Lahore on Sunday under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, according to family and party sources.
According to the reports, Aleema Khan was intercepted by police while travelling from her residence towards the Gymkhana Club. Her vehicle was subsequently taken to Lytton Road Police Station, while she was being held under the MPO order.

She was later transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail under the detention order. Reports said the Lahore deputy commissioner issued the 3-MPO order following a police request.
The detention comes one week before PTI’s planned September 27 protest march towards Islamabad. Reuters reported that a PTI Punjab spokesperson confirmed Aleema Khan’s arrest, while government and police officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan condemned the detention and called for Aleema Khan’s immediate release. He said the party’s planned march would remain peaceful and political, adding that PTI did not want confrontation or violence.
Gohar said the party intended to pursue its constitutional and political demands through peaceful means and described the detention as a development that could increase tensions.
The PTI has announced the September 27 march as part of its ongoing campaign, with the release of Imran Khan among its stated demands.
