LAHORE – Police have launched an investigation after a 10-year-old girl was found dead in the washroom of a private tuition centre in Lahore’s Ichhra area on Thursday evening.
According to police, the victim, identified as Naeema, had left her home to attend tuition classes at a privately run tuition centre operating from a residential house. She was later discovered unconscious in the centre’s washroom. Authorities confirmed that she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, SP Model Town Asad Ali arrived at the location to oversee the initial investigation. He was briefed by ASP Gulberg on the circumstances surrounding the case and the preliminary findings gathered by investigators.
Police cordoned off the tuition centre and began collecting evidence from the scene. The girl’s body was shifted to the morgue for a post-mortem examination, which officials say will help determine the exact cause and manner of her death.
Speaking to the media, SP Asad Ali said investigators were examining all possible aspects of the case and that it would be premature to speculate about the circumstances leading to the child’s death. He added that the motive, if any, and other facts surrounding the incident would become clear only after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether foul play was involved, and no arrests have been announced.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents, with many calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into the death. Police said legal proceedings are underway and assured the public that all available evidence, including forensic findings and witness statements, will be examined before any conclusions are drawn.
