LAHORE – Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin has reviewed security and administrative preparations for Muharram processions and religious gatherings in Lahore to ensure a peaceful observance of the holy month.

During a meeting, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Ali Ejaz briefed the minister on arrangements for procession routes and majalis venues, while DIG Operations Faisal Kamran outlined the security plan for Muharram across the provincial capital.

Officials informed the meeting that protective measures for major processions had been finalised. Facilities including langar, drinking water and milk distribution points have also been arranged for participants.

The briefing noted that procession routes will be monitored through CCTV cameras, with security personnel deployed at sensitive locations to maintain law and order.

Bilal Yasin directed all relevant departments to ensure close coordination and effective implementation of their responsibilities. These departments include the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Rescue services and other concerned institutions.

The minister said contingency plans would be put in place to address any emergency situations at procession and majalis sites, while additional arrangements would also be made to tackle possible rainfall during Muharram.

He added that, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, meetings with religious scholars and peace committees have been held across all districts to promote harmony and ensure a safe and peaceful environment during Muharram.
