LAHORE: Lahore Traffic Police have arrested a motorcyclist identified as Baz Muhammad after authorities discovered more than Rs2.08 million in unpaid e-challans linked to his name during a routine traffic inspection.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Abdul Rahim Shirazi, the motorcyclist was stopped during routine checking due to repeated traffic violations. During the verification process, officials found an unusually high number of pending e-challans associated with the individual.
Further investigation revealed that as many as 421 vehicles, including motorcycles, rickshaws and other vehicles, were registered under Baz Muhammad’s name. Authorities described the case as highly unusual and launched a detailed inquiry into the matter.
Traffic police officials said the accumulated fines amounted to more than Rs2.08 million, making it one of the most significant e-challan cases reported in the city. The discovery raised concerns about traffic law compliance and vehicle registration monitoring mechanisms.

Following the arrest, police impounded the motorcycle being used by the suspect and initiated legal proceedings. Authorities also began reviewing the records of all vehicles registered under his name to determine the nature of ownership and identify any potential irregularities.
CTO Abdul Rahim Shirazi said the Lahore Traffic Police are intensifying efforts to enforce traffic laws and recover outstanding fines from habitual violators. He emphasized that no individual would be allowed to evade penalties for repeated traffic offences.
Officials urged motorists to regularly check and clear their e-challans to avoid legal action and additional penalties. They also advised vehicle owners to ensure that registration records are accurate and up to date.
The case has attracted public attention due to the extraordinary number of vehicles allegedly linked to a single individual and the massive amount of unpaid traffic fines. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have indicated that further action may follow based on the findings.
