LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Law Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, while addressing a ceremony for the distribution of Grants-in-Aid among various Bar Associations, said that the Punjab Government is taking practical steps for the welfare, professional development and resolution of issues faced by the legal fraternity. He stated that the upgradation of bar rooms, provision of modern facilities and ensuring a better working environment for lawyers remain among the government’s top priorities.
Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, attended the ceremony as a special guest. Senior legal expert Chaudhry Ahsan Bhoon, Parliamentary Secretary for Law Khalid Mahmood Ranjha, Secretary Law Asif Bilal Lodhi, Deputy Secretary (Admin) Law, MPA Chaudhry Mansoor Azam Sandhu, MPA Irfan Bashir Gujjar, MPA Sultan Ali and Intizar Hussain Bhatti were also present on the occasion.
During the ceremony, grants amounting to Rs. 4.93 million were distributed among Bar Associations of Gujranwala Division, Rs. 4.15 million among Bar Associations of Gujrat Division, while Bar Associations of Sargodha Division received grants worth Rs. 2.6 million.
Addressing the participants, the Provincial Law Minister said that the Punjab Government is fully aware of the challenges being faced by the legal community and is taking serious measures to address them. He listened to proposals and concerns raised by lawyers regarding parking facilities, increase in the number of chambers, establishment of day-care centers and other welfare and administrative matters, assuring them of the government’s full support in resolving these issues.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan further stated that the provision of grants to Bar Associations will continue in the future to help improve facilities for lawyers and strengthen institutions that support the judicial system. He emphasized that lawyers play a vital role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring the delivery of justice; therefore, their welfare remains a responsibility of the government.
Presidents and General Secretaries of Bar Associations from Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat, along with a large number of office-bearers and lawyers from various districts, attended the ceremony. Representatives of the Bar Associations expressed their gratitude to Provincial Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan for the provision of grants and appreciated the Punjab Government’s efforts to address the issues faced by the legal community.
