LAHORE: The Lahore district administration has announced an extension in business hours for markets and commercial centers across the city until June 1, providing significant relief to traders and citizens ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
According to Deputy Commissioner Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, shops, markets, malls, and other commercial outlets will now be allowed to operate until 10pm. The decision has been implemented with immediate effect.
The DC shared the update via social media, stating that the move comes in response to long-standing demands from the trader community. Previously, businesses were required to close by 8pm, a restriction that has now been lifted temporarily.
Officials said the extension aims to boost economic activity and facilitate both shopkeepers and customers during the busy pre-Eid shopping season.
The decision reflects the administration’s intent to balance economic needs with administrative controls, especially during peak shopping periods before major religious Eid-ul-Azha.
Traders are expected to benefit from increased sales, while citizens will have more time for shopping, easing congestion during daytime hours.
