LAHORE: A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee-II has held at the Punjab Assembly under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Haider Gilani (H.I.). Officers from the Punjab Assembly, Audit Department, Finance Department, and Higher Education Department attended the meeting.
During the meeting, audit paras related to Government College University Faisalabad were discussed in detail.
The audit observations included unauthorized payment of late sitting and evening allowances without the approval of the Chancellor, non-recovery of advance House Building and Motor Car loans from employees who had left the university or proceeded on leave, non-deduction of House Rent Allowance and maintenance allowance, non-recovery of utility charges from officers and officials residing in university accommodations, non-recovery of salary and scholarship amounts from officers who neither completed their degrees nor returned to Pakistan, non-recovery of the university’s share from institutes being run under Public-Private Partnership arrangements, non-recovery of affiliation fees from affiliated colleges, non-recovery of rent and utility charges, non-recovery of electricity and gas charges from contractors, irregular appointment and selection of visiting faculty without following the Government of Punjab Recruitment Policy 2004, and irregular appointments made in violation of the Recruitment Policy 2004 pertaining to Government College University Faisalabad.
The Committee directed the concerned department to expedite the remaining recovery process on a priority basis and instructed the relevant officials to adopt all necessary measures to ensure the timely implementation of the Committee’s recommendations.
