Entertainment Desk-What was supposed to be a grand cinematic farewell for Vijay has instead turned into one of the most closely watched release battles in Tamil cinema.
His upcoming film Jana Nayagan, widely believed to be the actor’s final movie before dedicating himself entirely to politics, continues to face delays amid certification complications and legal concerns.
However, recent reports suggest Vijay himself has now taken direct control of the situation to ensure the film finally reaches audiences.
The film, directed by H. Vinoth, was originally planned as a massive Pongal 2026 release. Mounted on a reported budget of nearly ₹500 crore, Jana Nayagan carries enormous expectations not only because of its scale but also because it marks a significant transition in Vijay’s public life.
After recently assuming office as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the actor-politician has reportedly become personally involved in resolving the film’s pending issues.
According to industry reports, Vijay contacted producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions and asked him to immediately return to Chennai from the Cannes Film Festival.
The producer had travelled abroad for professional meetings and film-related events, but Vijay reportedly wanted him present in Chennai to oversee the crucial final steps tied to the movie’s release and certification process.
The biggest hurdle for Jana Nayagan appears to be its politically charged narrative. Reports indicate that the film attracted attention from the Central Board of Film Certification because of themes that could potentially influence public opinion during the election period.
Concerns over political messaging reportedly led to the film being referred to a Revising Committee for a more detailed evaluation.
The review process itself has also encountered setbacks. One of the committee screenings reportedly scheduled in March had to be cancelled unexpectedly after a member fell ill, creating further delays and uncertainty around the project’s timeline.
Alongside certification concerns, piracy risks and legal complications are also said to have contributed to the prolonged hold-up.
Despite the delays, anticipation around the film remains exceptionally high. The movie features an impressive ensemble cast led by Bobby Deol as the antagonist and Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Supporting roles are played by Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
For fans, Jana Nayagan is no longer just another big-budget entertainer. It now represents Vijay’s final cinematic chapter before stepping fully into political leadership, making every update surrounding the film a matter of huge public interest.
