LAHORE: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, said that 10 May, commemorated as Marka-e-Haq, marks a historic victory for Pakistan and reaffirms the nation’s full capability to defend its sovereignty, security, and national dignity.
Addressing a seminar titled “The Role of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in Maintaining Peace on a Global Scale,” the Speaker said that the visionary leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has earned Pakistan’s defence capabilities widespread international recognition. He noted that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has emerged not only as an exceptional military commander but also as a credible and effective advocate for peace in the region.
Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stated that the successful diplomacy of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, coupled with the bold and strategic decisions of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, significantly strengthened Pakistan’s position and credibility at the international level.
He said that Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos delivered a decisive response to enemy aggression, while Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq symbolizes Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to eradicate terrorism. He added that Pakistan played a responsible and constructive role in helping reduce tensions between the United States and Iran, reflecting the country’s growing contribution to international peace and stability.
The Speaker observed that India attempted to use the Pahalgam incident as a pretext for aggression, but Pakistan responded with restraint, strategic wisdom, and resolute strength. He added that international media outlets and reputable investigative institutions presented details of India’s aerial losses to the world.
Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said that the international community has been impressed by Pakistan’s capacity to produce the majority of its defence requirements domestically. He noted that Pakistan has sacrificed more than 120,000 lives in the fight against terrorism, making its commitment to peace and security an example for the world.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s principled stance on Jammu and Kashmir, he stated that Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein and that the country will continue to extend political, diplomatic, and moral support to the Kashmiri people.
Congratulating the nation on this great victory, the Speaker said that Pakistan is prepared to make every sacrifice necessary to protect its freedom, sovereignty, and national honour. He announced that a special session of the Punjab Assembly will be held on 11 May, during which a resolution on Marka-e-Haq will be adopted and the Pakistan Armed Forces will be paid rich tribute for their outstanding services and sacrifices.
He emphasized that the aspirations and dreams of Pakistan’s youth are the foundation of the country’s bright future, and that a strong and professional military remains the guarantor of Pakistan’s defence, stability, and global prestige.
