The 14th Lahore Literary Festival begins February 6 at Alhamra, featuring 60+ sessions, international scholars, and special Urdu-Punjabi literature programs, celebrating Lahore’s literary prominence.

By Our Correspondent

Lahore, 05 February: The three-day 14th edition of the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) is set to commence on Friday, 06 February 2026, at the Lahore Arts Council Alhamra, reaffirming Lahore’s position as a global hub of intellectual and literary discourse. The grand opening ceremony will take place at 2:00 pm in Alhamra Hall No. 1, bringing together an extraordinary gathering of eminent writers, intellectuals, scholars, researchers, artists, and diplomats from Pakistan and across the world.

The inaugural session will feature presidential addresses by Zahra and ZZ Ahmed, and Chief Executive Officer of the Lahore Literary Festival, Razi Ahmed, will deliver opening remarks outlining the festival’s vision, objectives, and global significance.

The opening session, titled “Alexander the Great: A Comprehensive Study,” will include a keynote address by world-renowned classical historian and Oxford University Emeritus Fellow, Robin Lane Fox. Distinguished historian and author F. S. Aijaz Uddin will formally introduce the session.

Over three days, the Lahore Literary Festival will host more than 60 scholarly, literary, and intellectual sessions covering a broad spectrum of themes, including history, global politics, diplomacy, culture, fine arts, heritage, film, social sciences, and literature. In a significant reflection of Pakistan’s rich literary traditions, twelve special sessions dedicated to Urdu and Punjabi language and literature have also been scheduled.

The festival features participation from scholars, writers, intellectuals, and researchers from fifteen countries across nearly every continent, further strengthening LLF’s stature as a genuinely global literary platform.

On the first day alone, multiple parallel sessions will take place across various halls, covering topics including the post-World War II global order, South Asian politics, ancient civilizations, the history of Lahore, arts and culture, humorous literature, mushaira, film screenings, literary discussions, and book launches.

Extensive and well-coordinated preparations are underway at the Lahore Arts Council Alhamra to ensure the festival’s flawless execution. The Alhamra administration is working tirelessly, round the clock, to provide participants and literature enthusiasts with an enriching, intellectually stimulating, and memorable experience.

The Lahore Literary Festival remains a credible global forum for dialogue, tolerance, intellectual diversity, and creative expression, further reinforcing Lahore’s literary and cultural identity on the world stage each year.
