LAHORE — Punjab families, including those living in joint households, will be able to access interest-free loans for home expansion under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar program, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said Friday.

The program aims to build 160,000 homes by June 2026. Under the Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar scheme, 1,534 plots will be allocated in the first phase through a lottery, including 194 in Jhelum, 129 in Kasur, 84 in Faisalabad, and 59 in Lodhran.
In a special meeting, officials reported that 1.88 million users are registered under the housing program, with 1.06 million applications received. So far, 67,197 homes have been completed and occupied, while 53,843 are under construction. Loans worth Rs164.66 billion have been disbursed with a 99 percent recovery rate.
The chief minister directed authorities to release the second installment of loans promptly and prepare a policy to assist families in case a registered beneficiary passes away. She reiterated the government’s commitment to providing affordable housing and improving living standards across Punjab.
