ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The federal cabinet has given the green light to print new currency notes, forming a special committee to finalize their designs, officials said. The State Bank of Pakistan briefed the cabinet on the new notes, which are being designed with modern security features and contemporary themes.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the meeting at the Prime Minister House, where members were informed that Rs100, Rs500, Rs1,000, and Rs5,000 notes will be issued. The new designs will highlight Pakistan’s regional diversity, historical landmarks, women’s role in national development, and environmental awareness, with input from international experts.
The cabinet also directed further review of the private Haj policy draft 2027–2030 and endorsed prior decisions of the Energy Cabinet Committee and Economic Coordination Committee made in December 2025.
