LAHORE (26 October 2025) Provincial Minister for Law and Punjab Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has said that October 27, 1947, marks the darkest day in the history of the subcontinent, when India illegally and forcibly occupied the State of Jammu and Kashmir, in blatant violation of international law, human rights, and the principles of the partition of the subcontinent.

He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir never accepted India’s illegal occupation and have been struggling for their freedom for the past seven decades. Despite oppression and atrocities, the Kashmiri people continue their courageous struggle for their legitimate right to self-determination.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said that the people and government of Pakistan observe October 27 every year as “Black Day” to remind the world that India has deprived the people of Kashmir of their fundamental human rights and continues to defy United Nations resolutions.
He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government stands firmly in solidarity with the Kashmiri people. Across the province, rallies, seminars, speeches, and solidarity events are being organized on Kashmir Black Day to highlight the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and to raise awareness among the younger generation about the just cause of Kashmir.
The Provincial Minister emphasized that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and the freedom movement of the Kashmiri people is a just, legal, and moral struggle that must be recognized globally. He urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to ensure the implementation of its resolutions so that the Kashmiri people may be granted their birthright.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to stand by the people of Kashmir at every step and will raise their voice for justice and freedom on all international platforms.
