Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been appointed captain of the national One Day International (ODI) team. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Afridi will lead the side in the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, scheduled to take place from November 4 to 8 at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
The decision was finalized during an important meeting held in **Islamabad**, attended by Head Coach Mike Hesson, Director High Performance Aaqib Javed, and members of the national selection committee. The panel reviewed the team’s recent performances and future plans before unanimously approving Afridi’s appointment as captain.

Shaheen, one of Pakistan’s most consistent and dynamic fast bowlers, has previously captained the national T20 side and brings valuable leadership experience to the ODI setup. His appointment is seen as part of PCB’s strategy to strengthen the team’s core leadership group ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
The upcoming ODI series will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Pakistan’s limited-overs squad under Afridi’s leadership. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how the left-arm pacer’s aggressive style and on-field energy translate into his captaincy in the 50-over format.
