The rate of electricity has increased across the country, including Karachi, under the monthly adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), electricity rates have been increased by Rs0.8 per unit as part of the monthly fuel adjustment.

The hike applies to the adjustment for August 2025 and, in line with government policy guidelines, will also be implemented for K-Electric consumers.
The notification further states that the increased charges will be collected from consumers in their October electricity bills.
Earlier, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of 19 paisa per unit under the August adjustment.
It is worth mentioning that NEPRA had reserved its decision on September 29 regarding the proposed electricity price hike.
