LAHORE – The Institution of Engineers Pakistan (IEP) and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) celebrated the country’s 78th Independence Day with a cake-cutting ceremony and prayers for the Pakistan Army and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

Speaking at the Engineers’ Lounge in Lahore, IEP Secretary General Engr. Amir Zameer Khan said this year’s Independence Day was marked with pride and dignity due to the vision of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. “Pakistan has truly emerged as a ‘Great Pakistan’ on the world stage, and we are proud of our Army Chief. Engineers are his vanguard,” he remarked.
PEC Focal Person Engr. Usman Farooq highlighted that the event brought together professional engineers from across the political spectrum under one platform. “Our mission is to provide economic and scientific stability to Pakistan. Both IEP and PEC have launched internship programmes, ensuring no engineer remains unemployed. Our engineers are already securing jobs globally, and Pakistan is moving forward rapidly,” he said.
The ceremony included national songs, waving of green flags, and a show of solidarity with the armed forces. Participants expressed their determination to make Pakistan one of the most advanced and respected countries in the world through academic, technical, and professional excellence.
