LAHORE: Lahore Police provided special security arrangements for 386 Majalis and 81 mourning processions held across the provincial capital on the 9th of Muharram.

This was stated by CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana in an official statement issued today.
He added that comprehensive security measures were in place for participants of Majalis and processions.
The CCPO said that strict implementation of Section 144 and the security SOPs issued by the Government of Punjab was being ensured throughout the month of Muharram. He added that adherence to the scheduled timings and designated routes of Majalis and processions would be strictly enforced.
Bilal Siddique Kamyana stated that mourners were being provided with a three-tier security cordon and security was being ensured using modern equipment including walk-through gates and metal detectors.
In collaboration with organizers, the checking and screening of participants had been made more effective. Continuous real-time monitoring of procession routes and venues was being conducted through control rooms, he said.
The CCPO directed Divisional SPs to maintain coordination with Peace Committee members and organizers of Majalis and processions to ensure peace and security. He also directed Dolphin Squad, PRU and mobile teams to carry out continuous patrolling around the routes of the Muharram related events.
Lahore Police remained fully committed to ensuring the safety and protection of the citizens’ lives and property during Muharram-ul-Haram, he concluded.
