LAHORE, April 4: The enforcement of tenancy laws in the provincial capital has been further intensified, with strict action being taken against violations.
According to the spokesperson for Lahore Police, a total of 700 individuals have been arrested and 360 cases have been registered during the current year in connection with breaches of tenancy regulations.
In this regard, Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana has stated that the presence of unregistered tenants constitutes a security concern. He asserted that compliance with the tenant registration system is a joint responsibility of both landlords and tenants.
He observed that timely registration of tenants has considerably facilitated law enforcement agencies in the identification and monitoring of criminal elements. He further noted that the system plays a significant role in tracing habitual offenders and individuals with prior criminal records.
indiscriminate action will continue against those providing accommodation to illegal or suspicious individuals, adding that no negligence or laxity in this regard will be tolerated, he concluded.
