NANKANA SAHIB: Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Punjab, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, along with Chief Executive Officer District Education Authority, Shazia Bano, inaugurated the “Wall of Legacy” at the historic Government Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, Nankana Sahib.
The ceremony was attended by a number of distinguished alumni and prominent personalities including former students Dr. Shahid Ali, Dr. Sardar Kalyan Singh Kalyan, Dr. Sajid Ali, Dr. Raheel Raza, Hafiz Ghulam Shabbir Advocate, Asif Ali Bhatti Advocate, Malik Zaman, and Haji Nasr Iqbal. Representatives of the Punjab Teachers Union, including District President Chaudhry Munir Anjum and General Secretary Fayaz Anjam, also participated in the event, reflecting the importance of this historical occasion.
School Principal Abdul Salam Tayyab and Vice Principal Iftikhar Ahmad, while briefing the guests, shared the remarkable legacy of the institution. They emphasized that Government Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School has produced countless luminaries who have made significant contributions nationally and internationally across various fields including education, law, medicine, and public service.
The “Wall of Legacy” was unveiled to honour and celebrate the achievements of these distinguished alumni, aiming to inspire the current and future generations of students.
Following the inauguration, the provincial minister and other dignitaries visited the Baba Guru Nanak Educational Museum housed within the school premises. The museum offers insights into the life, teachings, and philosophy of Baba Guru Nanak, highlighting the rich cultural and educational heritage of the region.
Addressing the ceremony, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora praised the school’s longstanding commitment to excellence and interfaith harmony, and reiterated the government’s resolve to support initiatives promoting quality education across Punjab.
