[:en](Web Desk) – The Supreme Court has released its detailed over the July 12 order which declared PTI as a parliamentary party and eligible for reserved seats.
The decision – of 8-5 majority – declared Imran Khan eligible for reserved seats.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah announced the verdict. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail penned a minority judgment.
The verdict states: “When election authorities engage in actions […] such as unlawfully denying the recognition of a major political party and treating its nominated candidates as independents, they not only compromise the rights of these candidates but also significantly infringe upon the rights of the electorate and corrode their own institutional legitimacy.”
It was also added that the ECP’s illegal acts and omissions had caused problems for PTI, its candidate and the electorate.[:]
