LAHORE: Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab has signed an MoU with GC University Lahore, which is aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two institutions, fostering collaboration on environmental research, policy, and action.

MoU was signed here in seminar on the topic of Climate Change under “COP in City” 2024 umbrella held jointly by EPA Punjab and GC University at Bukhari Auditorium here on Monday in which Secretary EPCCD Raja Jahangir was the chief guest while Parliamentary Secretary for for Environment Kanwal Liaqat and DG EPA Punjab Imran Hamid Sheikh were the guest of honour.
The event was addressed by GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shazia Bashir, Parliamentary Secretary for Environment Kanwal Liaqat, Secretary EP&CCD Raja Jahangir Anwar, and DG EPA Dr. Imran Hameed Sheikh.
A panel discussion was also held on the topic “Strengthening Inter-Sectoral Collaboration for Climate Change,” chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shazia Bashir while Secretary EPCCD Raja Jahangir Anwar, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the need for cooperation among various institutions to tackle environmental issues.
In his address, Raja Jahangir Anwar stressed the importance of planting trees and collaborating with environmental agencies. He further emphasized the need for more measures to prevent smog, urging every citizen to play their part.
The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude for the students’ participation, stating, “Our actions today will be crucial for our future.” Ms. Kanwal Liaqat praised the students’ awareness after reviewing their posters and said that we must keep our environment clean so that future generations can live in a better environment.
The panel discussion was later hosted by Professor Dr. Faiza Sharif, with experts including Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dr. Ayazuddin, Professor Dr. Ameen-ul-Haq Khan, Saba Asghar Ali, and Asad Laghari.[:]
