On the floor of the Punjab Assembly, The members of the South Punjab have demanded a separate province.
Ali Haider Gilani, the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), while speaking in the House, said, “The South Punjab Secretariat was not our demand, we wanted South Punjab province”.
He said Special Secretary had been appointed in South Punjab.
“We did not accept it, we think we should not be treated as subject, while the viceroy mentality is being dealt with as the Punjab government has immediately transferred ten secretaries of the South Punjab Secretariat,” he noted.
“The decision is cruel one to the people of South Punjab”, he said, seeking investigation on the legal framework of the Punjab Secretariat.[:]
