RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) : Pakistan’s top military leadership reaffirmed a strong commitment to national defence and deterrence during a ceremony marking the anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, signalling preparedness against any future threats.

The event, held at General Headquarters, was attended by senior officials from all three armed services, including Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and Naval Chief Naveed Ashraf. The ceremony underscored inter-services unity and paid tribute to personnel who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country.

The proceedings began with floral wreaths laid at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, followed by formal military salutes by contingents of the army, navy and air force. The gathering highlighted discipline, coordination and the role of faith and resilience in national defence.

Addressing the ceremony, Field Marshal Munir described Marka-e-Haq as a defining moment shaped by ideological resolve rather than a conventional conflict. He stated that Pakistan successfully protected its sovereignty during heightened tensions earlier in May through coordinated military strategy and national unity.

He alleged that India attempted to exert pressure through military and diplomatic means to alter the regional balance, but stressed that Pakistan effectively countered such moves. He warned that any future aggression would be met with a firm and decisive response, reinforcing the country’s deterrence posture.

Munir also paid tribute to civilians who lost their lives, calling their sacrifices a “sacred trust” and emphasising that Pakistan’s strength must be exercised responsibly. He praised the public for standing firmly behind the armed forces during the recent escalation.

Highlighting operational readiness, the army chief pointed to successful aerial engagements and precision targeting capabilities, describing them as evidence of Pakistan’s modern military preparedness. He maintained that the country’s defence systems remain vigilant and capable of responding to evolving threats.

The ceremony concluded with a message of unity, resilience and continued vigilance, as military leadership reiterated that safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty remains their foremost priority.
