LAHORE, Feb 17: General Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party Central Punjab, Syed Hassan Murtaza, on Tuesday issued a strong political warning to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), criticising its recent political conduct and rhetoric.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, he said political wisdom was more important than eyesight, adding that political issues could be resolved through understanding and maturity. He also referred to President Asif Ali Zardari, claiming his political message was gaining clarity and impact.
The PPP leader said his party was giving PTI a “last chance” to improve political behaviour, warning that the party would respond strongly if the situation worsened. He said the PPP would no longer avoid responding to allegations circulating on social media.

Murtaza stressed that PPP workers had been politically trained in democratic values by Benazir Bhutto, adding that the party believed in tolerance and democratic traditions. He appreciated Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari for deleting a controversial tweet, calling it an example of responsible leadership.
Without directly naming PTI leadership, he criticised what he described as abusive political language on social media. He also referenced political controversies involving Reham Khan.
The PPP leader said political differences should not target state institutions, including the Pakistan Army, adding that attacks on national institutions would not be tolerated. He said attempts to malign figures including Asim Munir and Shehbaz Sharif were unacceptable.
He urged the government to reduce public hardships during Ramadan and criticised recent petroleum price increases. Responding to media queries, he alleged that some PTI-linked social media accounts were being operated from abroad.
Other PPP leaders at the press conference reiterated the party’s stance, warning that political attacks would now be answered more strongly if they continued.
