LAHORE: The grand Spring Festival Gala was organized to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, with Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan attending as the chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren, along with distinguished representatives from diplomatic, business, and social circles.
Addressing the gathering, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said Pakistan’s recognition of the People’s Republic of China in 1950 was a historic and visionary decision that laid the foundation for strong, enduring, and time-tested bilateral relations. He emphasized that Pakistan and China are iron brothers and trusted partners whose friendship has withstood every challenge.
The Speaker remarked that Pakistan–China relations are higher than the mountains and deeper than the oceans, firmly rooted in mutual trust, respect, and shared strategic interests. Highlighting the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, he described CPEC as a tangible symbol of the partnership, noting its significant role in strengthening Pakistan’s energy sector, infrastructure development, and overall economic growth.
He said defence cooperation reflects deep mutual confidence, while collaboration in science, technology, and space research is opening new avenues for future engagement. Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also stressed that Chinese investment in Punjab is vital for socio-economic development and job creation in the province.
Concluding his remarks, the Speaker reaffirmed that Pakistan–China friendship remains a cornerstone for regional peace, stability, and prosperity, and will continue to serve as a source of strength for future generations.
