LAHORE (Web Desk) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Saturday visited the families of incarcerated senior PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Dr Yasmin Rashid in Lahore after Punjab authorities declined permission for a meeting inside Kot Lakhpat jail. Arriving for a three-day Lahore trip, he said his agenda was to meet imprisoned leadership and accused the Punjab government of displaying a “low mentality” by denying access.

Addressing media alongside Qureshi’s family, he said Pakistan belongs to everyone and he did not need a reason to visit any province. Afridi added that despite writing formally to Punjab seeking permission, there was no response. He said Imran Khan had given TTAP the responsibility for dialogue, while he himself had been directed to prepare for a street movement, vowing to take it “to its peak”.
Later in the day, Afridi announced a PTI rally at Minar-i-Pakistan at 6pm Sunday, challenging the PML-N to a crowd-size contest in each other’s province. He also met families of other leaders including Ejaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed. His first day in Lahore witnessed tense encounters with police and blocked entry routes, which he condemned, alleging PTI workers were harassed and arrested.
