RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) — A district and sessions court in Rawalpindi has awarded life imprisonment to a woman and the death penalty to her lover for murdering her husband.

Judge Nadia Ikram Malik announced the verdict, sentencing the wife, Sania, to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs400,000. Her co-accused and lover, Junaid Bhatti, was handed the death sentence and fined Rs400,000.

The court also found Sania guilty of tampering with evidence and conspiracy, awarding her two separate seven-year prison terms for each offence in addition to the life sentence.

Junaid Bhatti was further sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Rs10,000 for illegally entering the victim’s house.

After the announcement of the verdict, both convicts were taken into custody and shifted to Adiala Jail.

The murder case was registered at Saddiqabad police station on April 27, 2025.
